Business Traineeship Program

General Stream

If you're applying for the Business Traineeship Program - General, here is information on how it works and how to apply.

How does it work?

Once you are registered with the Business Traineeship Program (you can register when the Program is advertised), you will have the chance to be referred to WA State Government agencies that want to employ a Business Trainee. This means your resume will be sent to WA State Government agencies for their consideration. If you are the successful candidate, you will then undertake the Traineeship for 12 months, completing a Certificate II or III in Business. You will earn a training wage starting from $245.10 - $557.40 per week, while you learn a range of valuable business skills! Your wage will depend on a number of factors including:

  • the highest year of schooling you completed;
  • the number of years you've been out of school; and
  • your age

How do I apply?

Registrations for the Business Traineeship Program are advertised at various times throughout the year on this website, on www.jobs.wa.gov.au and in Saturday's edition of The West Australian newspaper. Applications for the Business Traineeship Program will be open shortly. Keep an eye on this website for further information.
