Business Traineeship Program

Building a Skilled Workforce in the WA Public Sector

 

A Business Traineeship with the WA State Government is the perfect way to kick start your career and a great opportunity to begin building a real career path.

 

What is the Business Traineeship Program?

The Business Traineeship Program will provide you with an opportunity to undertake a Business Traineeship in a WA State Government Agency, for a period of 12 months.

If you are successful in gaining a Business Traineeship you will have hands-on experience while being paid a training wage, which starts from $245.10 - $569.70 per week! You will also gain your first qualification - a Certificate II or III in Business!

 

Business TraineesWhat will I learn?

By the time you've finished your Business Traineeship, you will know how to:

  • Use office equipment and technology
  • Process accounts payable and receivable
  • Work within a team environment
  • Handle customer service enquiries
  • Understand records and mailing systems
  • Contribute ideas and solving problems
  • And much more!!

In short, you'll receive first hand experience in working in the WA State Government, earn a wage while being trained and end up with a nationally recognised qualification at the end of your Traineeships. Not bad, huh?

 

Who can apply?

The WA State Government is committed to the employment of all young West Australians, including young Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people and young people with disabilities.

There are 3 streams within the BTP and as long as you are under 25 years of age, are an Australian Citizen or permanent resident, who is living is Western Australia, you can apply for the General, Aboriginal or Disability Program!

 Level Who is Eligible to Apply?

BTP - General

 

Any person currently living in Western Australia who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or has a valid Working Visa

BTP - People with Disabilities (1)

 Any person with a disability who is currently living in Western Australia and requires employment assistance

BTP - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (2)

Any person who is Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander currently living in Western Australia 

 

1 If you have a disability but don't need employment assistance, please go to the General stream.
2 If you're an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander job seeker, you can apply for either the General or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander streams.

Please Note

You are not eligible for the above Programs if you have already completed a Certificate III or above in Business. If you have a qualification not related to Business (TAFE or University) you are eligible to apply, however, it should be noted that preference will be given to those who have not yet gained any formal qualifications.

If you already have a qualification from TAFE or university, why not register with the Entry Level Employment Program.
